Join us as a Gastroenterologist at the Rochester VA Outpatient Clinic located in Rochester, NY.
Duties include:
Provide comprehensive clinical gastroenterology services including the full range of colonoscopy and Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) operative procedures such as:
Colonoscopy:
Colonoscopy w/ colostomy
Colonoscopy w/ biopsy(ies)
Colonoscopy w/ ablation of tumor/polyp/lesion
Colonoscopy w/ removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by snare technique
Colonoscopy w/o biopsy
Colonoscopy w/ submucosal
Colonoscopy control of bleeding
Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD):
EGD diagnostic
EGD w/ biopsy(ies)
EGD w/ removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by snare technique
EGD control of bleeding
EGD esophageal dilation
Surgical procedures include:
Flexible sigmoidoscopy w/ biopsy/snare/ablation/control of bleeding
PEG tub replacement
Provide consultative services at patients' bedsides or in the clinic.
Schedule procedures within 30 days of consultation.
Prescribe medications in accordance with all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions coordinated with the next care setting for Gastroenterology clinical or surgical patients.
Schedule: Full-time, 7:30A-4P Mon-Fri. No call, weekends, or federal holidays.
Period of Performance: 1 year 12/1/2025-11/30/2026.
Qualifications:
Education. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree.
Board Certification. BC/BE by the American Board of Internal Medicine (IBIM) in Internal Medicine w/ subspecialty in Gastroenterology Physician Services.
Licensure and certification. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. BLS or ACLS or equivalency, DEA and NPI required.
Experience. Must be capable of demonstrating technical proficiency.
English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
Subject to background/security investigation.
Must pass TB test.
Complete an online onboarding process.
Willingness to comply with Department of Veterans Affairs vaccination programs for seasonal influenza and COVID-19.
Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.

These services may take place in their private office, established clinics located across the country, or during travel opportunities for group screening events.
